the adventures of apollo and trudiE™

Trudie is one of my good friends and every time I visit Cali I have to see her. The first visit with her was when my sister had an appointment with our knee doctor Dr. Richard Ferkel. He’s a Chicago man and I told him about the stuff I’ve been doing with the Cubs which he was really juiced about. Then he ordered me to bring my sister to a place to get pie. But that wouldn’t happen until I did my rounds and we had some Roscoe’s.

I told Trudie to meet us at the Roscoe’s on Gower off Sunset. She came out looking all cute and similar to Kat Von D from Miami Ink. My sister has never been to Roscoe’s and didn’t know what to order, so she copied my order. Actually we all ordered the “Scoe”. Unfortunately, the version I wanted wasn’t the one I actually wanted, which was with gravy on top. None the less it was really fulfilling, at least for me.

Next stop, Melrose, did our rounds, but nothing really happened. However I did see a new Banksy piece up. I don’t know if it was there before, but it was new to me. The Beverly Center was next and although I was still on my jacket hunt, Trudie was the only one to buy something. Hell she had the scrill.

It was a long journey, but we went to Silverlake to pick Travis up because he wanted to join us for some pie the doctor ordered, which was close to Culver City. The place is called Apple Pan, a whole in the wall place where the outside looks like a mini Applebee’s and the inside having a diner set up. We decided to have dinner and pie. The burgers were whatever, but it as all about the desert. My sister had the apple pie and I had the banana cream. Both pies were delicious, but I would recommend the banana cream to satisfy that sweet tooth.

I returned to LA meeting up with Trudie for our 2nd day together, which turned out to be more of an adventure for us and vent time. We met at Melrose again so that she could park her car and I would take mines. We were the hungriest and we were going to eat at I Love Sushi on Melrose, but our expectations for was very high, so we just left and I took her to a place I go to in Little Tokyo. She then spotted a guy wearing a Franco Shade Bronx Jacket and wanted to go up to him and say “I know the guy that owns the company”. Oh mischievous Trud!
I stumbled upon Rif, a store that’s been there for a while, yet I haven’t been able to see it. Of course I had to go there especially when I see the Jordan XI’s being posted with a 300+ sticker on them. I look down, pout my lips, and the Charlie Brown “Christmas Time is Here” song comes on. Trudie on the other had began her cycle of appreciating sneakers a little more, picking a pair of the patten leather Jordan I’s and saying she would wear them, but didn’t buy them.
This guy had a photo or doll of some sort on his left hand and was filming it with Paramount Studios behind it. Just one of the fantastic attractions when you come to L.A.

There was one spot I missed I wasn’t able to see before I left and that was the new Undefeated store located in Silverlake. The exterior of it was amazing, however the interior section looked cheap and unfinished; not just in comparison with the other stores, in general. Regardless, it’s still a great store even though I didn’t find anything I needed. However, big T on the other hand fell in love with the Women Blazer 3M’s.

I needed to go to Hennesy and Ingalls for an art book by Brandon Boyd, so we tried to rush out to Santa Monica before the store closed and we made it. For the next day at work, Trudie came up with a theme called “Season’s Greetings” where her and her employees must dress in white accessories. So we let the hunt begin. She struggled while I tried to find the nearest Claire’s, which is now called Icing. Either way we beat the clock, not onece, but by twice!
Trudie called me the paparazzi, so I acted like the paparazzi.

Trudie and co. (Chris Haffey and Brandon Negrete) have been obsessing over this commercial of Tito’s Tacos; a Mexican restaurant 50 miles away from their house. Trudie mentioned we were in the vicinity so we made our way in the infamous taco shop. We arrive and I hear a banshee yell “Oooh My Gooood! Tito’s Tacooooos!”. The smell was delicious, something I have been craving for a while; an authentic, dirty, fat lady employed taco stand. We were in line and Trudie couldn’t decide what she wanted, so she ordered than what that little girl can handle; bean and cheese burrito, a tamale, a beef taco, chips and salsa, Of course she didn’t eat everything, but she was able to filter out the good shit and the hot shit. There was also a creepy guy whom we could not decide if he was on crack or just crazy. He wanted this photo done and thought Trudie was my girlfriend. Ha! The expectation of this place was high, really high. We thought that if they had a commercial that created the Riverside Tito’s Tacos Cult, it would have to live up to it…
The sign
The posse
The Homeboy
The box
The anticipation…
The release and suprise
The closeup
The result, it was the one of the best meals I’ve had on this trip and it lived up to the commercial. dddddd
And now we close the final chapter in our adventures. Tom Sawyer and Huck Fin ain’t got shit on us!
